This article deals with a series of interventions carried out by the Argentine artist Leandro Katz at the beginning of the seventies within the framework of actions and exhibitions promoted by the Center for Art and Communication of Buenos Aires. An interdisciplinary space that promoted experimental practices and theoretical production around Latin American art. He carried out a policy of exhibitions articulated around the creation of a network of links between alternative institutions, artists and theoreticians. Since the mid-1960s, Katz had been working outside the territory and inserted in the New York scene marked by an anti-institutional and alternative attitude, among the artists associated with conceptualism.
Based on the analysis of a series of interventions that Katz carried out in 1972 in Buenos Aires, his participation in the international boycott of the São Paulo Biennial (1971) and an unsolicited contribution to the III Coltejer Biennial of Medellín, this article proposes open the possibility of reviewing some of the exchange actions promoted or accompanied by the CayC. Likewise, we propose an approach to the prolific and little-known early career of Leandro Katz.
