Clara Wieck, later Schumann, German, Teresa Carreño, Venezuelan, Rosita Renard, Chilean, have all of them distinguished as some of the most outstanding pianists along a little more than a century, from before the mid 19th century to the mid 20th century. There are parallelisms and contrasts in their lives and careers. But their lives as well as their musical development were strongly affected by facts linked to their condition as women. We have tried to establish these parallels, higlighting particularities and difficulties arising from their condition of women.
