Occupational Therapy in neonatal care unit: an experience from the south
Abstract
In spite of occupational therapy central target related to promote an ideal occupational performance in ourpatients from all ages, our presence in neonatology in preterm attendance had been partial until the present,
even when the therapist have terapeutics tools that authorize us to give an import help to that population.
The present paper describe the experience from the pediatric occupational therapy, as part of the Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation Service in the attention of preterm babies hospitalized in the Neonatology
Unit at the Hospital Guillermo Grant Benavente in Concepcion.
It is necessary that the occupational therapist explained us an constant updating, analisis and reflexion
about our work in this particular area, with the propose to contribuit to obtain the much higher levels in the
integral development from the children, as well as our progress and to promote our professional position.
