Abstract

The stories of lesbian and bisexual women are often underrepresented and overlooked on television. This study examines the integration of non-heterosexual teen characters into Chilean serialized fiction within the thriller and drama genres during the 21st century. A total of five TV shows and ten characters were analyzed. Teen women were portrayed as emotionally fragile, often expressing sorrowful feelings, appearing infrequently, and lacking depth in their narratives. Additionally, archetypes such as the confused lesbian and the feminist lesbian emerged. The examination of sexual communication between individuals reveals the fleeting and intangible expression of desires among women, emphasizing the marginalization of lesbian identity.
