This qualitative study analyzes the experiences of caregiving students in Chilean higher education, addressing the tensions between caregiving, academic performance, and social life. Based on six in-depth interviews, gender inequalities are identified: women, as primary caregivers, face overload and devaluation, while men challenge the stigmas associated with hegemonic masculinity. Both develop resistance practices to renegotiate their roles. The lack of institutional and social support limits their academic and social integration, reinforcing exclusions. The study highlights the need for inclusive policies that recognize and value caregiving as a pillar of equity.
